Study on the settlement of organisms in seagrasses
Expanding the ongoing work on the seagrasses in Inhaca Island, a new
component of the COBIO-NET project emerged to study the settlement of organisms in these seagrass meadows.
The main objective is to compare the settling fauna on seaweeds between different species and conditions of seagrass meadows. The method consists in collecting the organisms that settle in synthetic weed rolls over 24 hours placed in different seagrass areas around Inhaca Island.
The fieldwork began in April 2022 in Inhaca, Mozambique, with the joint efforts of the COBIO-NET partners FCUL and UEM. The sampling of the first season finished in July and it is now being replicated in the contrasting season.
