Inauguration of the exhibition on biodiversity, Maputo City’ Fortress
On the past 23rd of February, the COBIO-NET project inaugurated in Maputo city’s Fortress, Mozambique, the exhibition “Biodiversity and Coastal Marine Resources – their uses and conservation in Maputo Bay”.
With the objective of making the community aware of the importance of the marine coastal zone and its conservation, this exhibition aims to contribute to the adoption of good environmental practices.
The exhibition makes a brief presentation of the coastal zone and its biodiversity, its resources and the benefits provided to human communities focusing on the tropical zone of Maputo Bay. It also approaches the challenges arising from the increased human pressure and development, and global threats. The role of natural history museums and their collections is also part of the exhibition, namely their importance for the knowledge and dissemination of biodiversity.
